Hi Tomy! It’s awesome to see your blog and some of your great work. I really like your slideshows within the posts.
Hi Tomy! I am very interested in photography, but I have a beginners camera. Just a simple little shove-in-your-pocket and run type of camera. I have been researching two brands; Nikon and Canon. My favorite out of the Nikons’ is the d5100, but I have not found one in partircular that I love from Canon. Any suggestions? What type of camera do you have?
This would be so helpful if you could give me some advice. Thanks!

Hello Lindsey, I just saw this comment today. I hope you will forgive me for not responding to you until now. The comments don’t come to my attention unless I go to my blog and I have not gone to it in months.
I hope you bought a camera this fall and have been using it. I have owned both Nikon and Canon cameras. They both are great. I use Canon cameras today. Right now I want to buy the Canon 7D for the next year.Sure, the Mdk III is a fabulous camera but I already have a 5D for a full frame camera and I do not need another one. The camera I use the most is the 50D. Its a few years old but is a wonderful one and I am only going to replace it because I am giving it to my daughter for her photography class in college.
In choosing a camera for growing your skill and knowledge be sure to pick a camera that allows you full manual control over your images. You need to be able to set the lens aperture and shutter speed manually in order to take the best images. Also, get one that will take RAW files. The Nikon you are looking at has both of those abilities. As cameras get more expensive they add technical abilities; more focus points, faster focus, wireless capabilities, ruggedness, better software and hardware. Professionals purchase good enough cameras for our needs, its the lenses that we have the most interest in and often the most investment. Glass rules. If it is sharp, fast(2.8 or better) and has image stabilization we like it.
That being said, the most important thing you can do as a beginner is shoot a lot. Look at your results and see what you can do to make them better. Also, look at them and see what you like as a subjects and if there is a style that is emerging that you would like to pursue. If you would like an audience please call me at 651 439-6481
Good luck!
